The Empire Center for Public Policy is seeking Student Fellows for Spring 2027 through the Koch Internship Program (KIP), a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships. KIP offers professional development, leadership training, and meaningful work experience with nonprofit organizations addressing policy challenges. Early-career professionals, including undergraduate, graduate, and law students and recent graduates, are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the program. Applicants interview with both the nonprofit partner organization and Stand Together Fellowships staff. The Empire Center is a state-based think tank that promotes New York public policy reforms grounded in free-market principles, personal responsibility, and effective and accountable government. It seeks to inform New York State policymakers, the news media, and the public through research papers, policy briefings, commentaries, and conferences. Student Fellows are paired with Empire Center researchers focused on areas such as taxes, government transparency, education, energy, and healthcare. Fellows learn and apply analysis skills on substantive projects, with the goal of being named as an author on an Empire Center report or other publication sharing their findings. Stand Together Fellowships provides a stipend of $7,500 for full-time participants working approximately 32 hours per week at the partner organization, or $5,500 for part-time participants working approximately 24 hours per week. Participants in either schedule must attend all online and on-site KIP programming. The admissions office welcomes qualified applicants regardless of legally protected characteristics.
