About The Position

The Centerwell Student Extern position provides medical students with supervised clinical exposure in internal medicine as part of their formal educational program. The extern will work under minimal direction, within established departmental protocols, and will be expected to demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to quality care.

Requirements

• Selected for the Kansas City University School of Osteopathic Medicine Internal Medicine Clerkship, with assignment at Centerwell Bannister Rd. at 5420 Bannister Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
• Eligible to work in the United States (Social Security Number required as part of the application).
• Submission of a written attestation that you do not have a felony record (this will be provided to you upon program matching).
• Availability for the entire rotation period from October 12 – November 8, 2026 and work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST (4 weeks / 160 Course Hours).
• Demonstrated passion for enhancing patient and consumer healthcare experiences.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Active involvement in campus activities and/or community service.
• Expressed interest in a career in the healthcare industry.
• Self-provided internet service with at least a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
• Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
• Occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
