Student Engineering Intern (Structural)
About The Position
RESPEC is seeking a Student Engineer (Structural) Intern for its Summer Internship 2027 program in the Anchorage, Alaska office. This temporary, part-time internship offers hands-on design experience in RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector. The intern will work alongside full-time employees, receive mentoring and coaching, and develop civil engineering skills and knowledge while learning how professional services are delivered to clients. The role may provide exposure to clients, job sites, and communities, as well as opportunities to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team serving public- and private-sector clients.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering.
Nice To Haves
- Solid time management skills and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work efficiently.
- Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design.
- Good working knowledge of fundamental structural engineering concepts.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Strong problem-solving and math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Team player who strives to provide quality work.
- Some proficiency with AutoCAD Revit.
Responsibilities
- Assist with design work.
- Perform calculations and simulations.
- Research topics as assigned.
- Assist with field inspections.
