The Student Engagement Coordinator supports the comprehensive delivery of Army STEM Internships and Fellowships, a program administered through the Army STEM Education Consortium, led by RIT. The programs provide enrichment experiences, competitions, internships, fellowships, and professional development for students and teachers. Internships and fellowships provide paid, hands-on research under the mentorship of Army scientists and engineers at Army-sponsored university labs and U.S. Army Laboratories and Research Centers nationwide. The coordinator is a primary interface between participants and the RIT office. Responsibilities include managing the Internships and Fellowships question hotline, coordinating inventory and shipping of participant supplies, supporting events and recruitment, and helping participants use the Army STEM learning management system by facilitating enrollment, tracking progress, and reviewing assignments. The coordinator also oversees special projects as assigned and completes outreach, community engagement, publicity, partnership, fundraising-administration, and program reporting duties. The position works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Army STEM Internships and Fellowships. It requires strong customer service, organizational, time-management, communication, and database skills, and involves engagement with stakeholders ranging from high school students to postdoctoral participants, as well as parents, teachers, Army scientists and engineers, and consortium partners. The position is grant-funded by the Department of War, requires some travel, and may be performed in a hybrid or onsite arrangement.
