The Student Engagement Coordinator supports the comprehensive delivery of Army STEM Internships and Fellowships. Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is the lead organization in the Army STEM Education Consortium, a group of academic and nonprofit organizations administering programming to attract, develop, and mentor the next generation of the STEM workforce. Army STEM programs include enrichment experiences, competitions, internships, fellowships, and professional development for students and teachers. Internships and fellowships provide paid, hands-on research on real-world problems under the mentorship of Army scientists and engineers at Army-sponsored university labs and U.S. Army Laboratories and Research Centers nationwide. Internships serve high school and undergraduate students; fellowships serve graduate students and postdoctoral scientists and engineers. The coordinator is a key interface between program participants and the RIT office. The role manages the internships and fellowships question hotline, coordinates supply inventory and shipping, supports events and recruitment activities, and helps participants use the Army STEM learning management system (LMS), including enrollment, progress tracking, and assignment review. The coordinator also oversees assigned special projects and works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Army STEM Internships and Fellowships. The position engages stakeholders ranging from students and families to teachers, Army scientists and engineers, and consortium partners. It requires strong customer service, organization, time management, communication, and database skills. Some travel is required. The position is funded by a Department of War grant and is open to a hybrid or onsite work arrangement.
