About The Position

We are seeking applications for a part-time Student Research Assistant position as part of an NIH-funded research project in Dr. Kristen Muller’s research lab in the Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology. The project evaluates the feasibility of using eye-tracking technology to measure word understanding skills in autistic children who are non-speaking or minimally verbal. This position is an opportunity to learn about and contribute to research on autism, language assessment, and eye-tracking. This position is set to begin in Summer 2026. Start date is flexible depending on availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Sciences, Psychology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • Must be a student at UAMS.

  • Relevant work or clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete training modules for eye-tracking hardware and software
  • Help administer behavioral, cognitive, and language assessments to autistic children
  • Assist with community advisory board meetings
  • Assist with data collection and data entry
  • Collaborate with research team members
  • Prepare materials to utilize during eye-tracking assessments
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Work 10 hours a week
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the project
