About The Position

The SURP Student Intern is an undergraduate student who has been accepted to the 9-week NIH-funded summer research program titled the UAMS Summer Undergraduate Research Program. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. Requirements

  • Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. institution.
  • Student must have completed at least one full year of undergraduate studies and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
  • Student must be available to work 34 –34.5 hours each week during the 9 weeks of the program.
  • Student must arrange for transportation to and from UAMS during work hours as required.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the direction of their assigned UAMS research faculty mentor during the 9-week program.
  • This will include working on a research project, writing a research paper, and attending required weekly meetings and seminars.
