About The Position

The WNC Art Gallery Student Worker assists with the operations of the gallery and supports exhibitions, events, and promotional activities. This position provides students with hands-on experience in gallery administration, exhibition preparation, arts marketing, and event coordination while contributing to a welcoming and professional gallery environment.

Requirements

  • Current WNC student in good academic standing
  • Student Employment Eligibility: Fall & Spring Semester Eligibility Enrollment in at least 6 credits each regular semester; and Be in a degree seeking program; and Meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements: 67% completion rate in the last enrolled semester 67% cumulative completion rate 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale Have not exceeded the maximum number of credits allowed (90) or received two degrees OR be on an approved appeal and on probation with an Academic Plan; and Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Summer Eligibility - Students are eligible to work during the summer if they meet the following criteria: Enrolled in at least 6 summer credits; or Successfully have completed the spring semester and enrolled in the required 6 credits for the fall semester (summer enrollment in this case is not required); and Meet all Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements listed previously; and Be authorized to work in the United States
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States, without sponsorship, at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update gallery inventory lists for artwork, supplies, and exhibition materials
  • Assist with the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, including handling artwork, labeling, lighting, and preparing gallery spaces
  • Support gallery events by helping with setup, attendance monitoring, guest assistance, and breakdown/cleanup
  • Create and post exhibition marketing materials for social media, bulletin boards, campus announcements, and other communication platforms
  • Maintain exhibition attendance logs and assist with visitor tracking and reporting
  • Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks such as filing, organizing materials, answering questions, and maintaining gallery records
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional gallery environment
  • Ability to lift and move artwork, display materials, and supplies safely (with guidance/training provided)
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
