About The Position

This role involves acting as a mentor for students in THEA courses such as Stagecraft, Production Practicum, Theatre Practicum, and Costume & Lighting/Sound Technology. The student employee will participate in various capacities related to theatre lighting and sound, including design, technical execution, and equipment maintenance. Responsibilities include assisting with the setup, operation, and teardown of lighting equipment for main stage productions, ensuring proper training on equipment usage, and adhering to all division policies. The position also involves assisting the Head Electrician and T.D. with wiring and the physical setup of lighting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Act as mentors to students in THEA courses: Stagecraft, Production Practicum, Theatre Practicum, Costume & Lighting/Sound Technology.
• Act in various capacities including Lighting Designer, Associate Lighting Designer, Assistant Lighting Designer, Production Electrician, Board Operator, Followspot Operator, Moving Light Programmer, Moving Light Maintenance Crew, and Rigger.
• Perform upkeep, maintenance, and organization of lighting equipment.
• Notify the Lighting Professor if any equipment is faulty.
• Participate in load-in and strike for all main stages.
• Obtain necessary training on the proper and efficient use of equipment before hanging and focusing sessions.
• Ensure adherence to all Division policies and procedures governing the use of lighting equipment and facilities.
• Assist the Head Electrician and T.D. with the wiring of scenic, practical lighting, or stage properties.
• Assist the Head Electrician with the hanging, cabling, securing, and focusing of all lighting equipment used in production.
