Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various audiences in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to represent the College and division professionally with internal and external constituents to further the purpose, values, and mission of the College.
  • Excellent computer skills and abilities, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, and demonstrated willingness to work extra hours as needed to cover College events; and demonstrated abilities to be an effective team member.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years full time experience in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Work as an advisor for students interested in and/or currently enrolled in a TCAT program.
  • Perform outreach to local agencies and schools to inform and educate about TCAT programs and processes.
  • Guide students through the admissions, financial aid, and registration processes.
  • Plan and carry out student-related college events.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and faculty for the benefit of our students.
  • Provide open access support in the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Division, which aligns with the College’s values.
  • Embrace and promote the College’s goals related to open access and support the TCAT Division’s efforts to utilize best practices.
  • Provide open access services and support for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Coordinate and organize or assist with TCAT events: TCAT Commencement Ceremonies, Grad Finale, National Signing Day, TCAT Open House.
  • Coordinate the nominations, interviews, and selection of the student for the Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) Awards.
  • Support TCAT’s involvement with SkillsUSA.
  • Recruit students: Represent TCAT at potential recruiting events, Organize or help organize TCAT Open House, Conduct TCAT tours with prospective students or visiting groups.
  • Advise students and families through the admissions, financial aid, and registration processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all prospective and enrolled students.
  • Actively support and participate in campus recruitment and retention efforts. This may include serving on committees.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • When working with marketing to create promotional materials, make sure all programs are being promoted.
  • Maintain compliance with admission, registration, and financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Avoid excessive spending on promotional materials.
  • Utilize each interaction with students to help them gain a better understanding of the opportunities and resources available to them.
