About The Position

Campus Enterprises is NC State University’s division of retail and hospitality organizations. This role provides vital support to Campus Enterprises and NC State Dining by providing an excellent dining experience for all guests. Students will start at a training level of tier 1 at $11 per hour and are eligible for promotion to a tier 2 position at $12 per hour. Eligible students will receive longevity raises based on years of service. Dining and Catering employees earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus of up to $200.

Requirements

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Willingness to handle and serve all types of food (including meat products)
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and follow both written and verbal instructions and recipes to efficiently and accurately assemble menu items.
  • Ability to work with a team and effectively communicate.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must attend mandatory student employee orientation and training sessions

Nice To Haves

  • Prior culinary experience is welcome but not necessary.
  • Willing to make a multi-semester commitment to NC State Dining and interest in advancing to higher tier culinary positions based on training and performance

Responsibilities

  • Work in an energetic environment to prep, serve and restock food items
  • Under the direction of culinary staff, prepare small-batch cooking in a high volume food service operation. This includes tasks such as cutting, sauteing and toasting.
  • Actively participate in training to learn how to produce food following detailed, standardized recipes
  • Create standardized recipes and assemble basic ingredients for chefs to use in preparing dishes
  • Adhere to verbal directions meticulously to uphold the exceptional appearance and flavor of the food.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests
  • Assist with weekly and monthly cleaning of the kitchen and production area
  • Help to maintain temperature and sanitation to ensure food safety and assist units in maintaining a Grade A sanitation of 95% or better.
  • Other duties as assigned.
