We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented co-op Student to join our Contracts and Proposal Management team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to improve the consistency and efficiency of our contract review process while gaining practical experience within a dynamic healthcare organization. Working closely with the Contracts and Proposal team and SDM legal, you will support clearing a backlog of a steady flow of contracts from Lifemark. This role would provide first-level contract and risk support, while learning about compliance, corporate governance, privacy, commercial contracting, and regulatory matters within the healthcare industry.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Law, Health Policy, or equivalent
  • Must be available to work full-time hours, Monday-Friday, from September 2026-December 2026
  • Strong interest in corporate, commercial, healthcare, privacy, employment, or regulatory law.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and build effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with legal research platforms and document management systems is considered an asset.
  • Previous internship, co-op, or legal work experience is considered an asset.
  • Interest in the healthcare industry is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a Risk Standards Guide that documents the organization's positions and escalation thresholds for key contractual provisions (e.g., limitation of liability, insurance, audit rights, survivability, financial exposure, etc.)
  • Working with business units to develop standardized SOW templates to improve consistency and reduce contract cycle times
  • Conducting preliminary reviews of contracts, RFP sample agreements, and other contract documents to identify and summarize key risks
  • Coordinating with SDM Legal on proposed edits and risk assessments
  • Creating issue lists and escalating material risks to leadership team as required
