About The Position

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of British Columbia (NNPBC) is seeking a motivated and creative Student, Communications & Engagement. This is an exciting time to join NNPBC. Alongside our ongoing communications and engagement work, we are preparing to launch a newly redesigned organizational website this summer and are looking for someone eager to support content migration, digital engagement, and the ongoing stabilization and refinement of this important new platform. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications, social media management, website content, and content development while contributing to the visibility and engagement of our organization. Reporting to the Director, Communications & Engagement, our Student, Communications & Engagement will assist in maintaining our online presence, supporting outreach activities, and ensuring our communications are accessible, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program in British Columbia, such as Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, English, Writing, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills with attention to detail
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok etc.)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities and contribute to a collaborative team
  • A mix of formal education and/or lived, community-based experience that demonstrates readiness to contribute meaningfully to this role
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of Mailchimp, website CMS (e.g., WordPress) and/or Canva is an asset
  • An interest in digital engagement, accessibility and inclusive communication practices

Responsibilities

  • Support the launch of NNPBC’s new website through content migration, formatting, updates and quality assurance
  • Assist with updating webpages, blogs, resource listings and other member-facing content in WordPress
  • Help review website content for accuracy, accessibility and consistency
  • Generate and schedule social media posts within an established content calendar
  • Monitor social media accounts and support audience engagement
  • Conduct basic research to support content creation and amplification opportunities
  • Keep tools such as Linktree updated with current links and information
  • Ensure digital content follows accessibility best practices, including appropriate alt text
  • Maintain organized digital files, spreadsheets and content trackers
  • Perform other communications-related tasks as assigned
