About The Position

Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE) is a non-profit, charitable organization serving Windsor and Essex County. FSWE helps people to restore their ability to choose their own place in the world through counselling and individual support services. FSWE believes that what makes us human is the drive to self-determination. When people lose this drive due to injustices such as trauma, poverty, exclusion, and discrimination, FSWE provides support to build resiliency and restore people’s ability to choose their own place in the world. The ideal Communications & Community Engagement Specialist candidate is comfortable balancing communications strategy, content creation, community engagement, and project coordination in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Project Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, Community Development, or equivalent.
  • Experience in communications, digital marketing, social media management, community engagement, event coordination, or related.
  • Strong written communication, editing, storytelling, and visual communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging digital content across multiple platforms.
  • Strong proficiency with: WordPress, Canva, Adobe InDesign, Buffer, Descript, Mailchimp, Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on MS Forms, Co-Pilot, and MS, Social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a strong.

Responsibilities

  • Create the agency’s annual communication plan.
  • Create engaging, accessible, and visually compelling content for social media, newsletters, websites, campaigns, presentations, and community initiatives.
  • Coordinate and maintain FSWE’s digital presence across social media platforms, websites, email communications, and digital campaigns.
  • Coordinate engagement monitoring, analytics, and digital campaign.
  • Support organizational branding and maintain consistency across communications materials and.
  • Create and coordinate media communications including writing media advisories and coordinating press events.
  • Ensure alignment of communication practices with accreditation standards and agency.
  • Coordinate and support community initiatives, wellness programming, awareness campaigns, and public engagement projects as.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for workshops, events, community partnerships, and promotional activities.
  • Build positive working relationships with community partners, vendors, stakeholders, and service.
  • Represent the organization at community events, outreach opportunities, and networking activities as.
  • Create the agency’s annual report in collaboration with the agency’s Data Lead and Leadership Team.
  • Support project administration, reports, scheduling, communications tracking, and event coordination.
  • Assist with maintaining databases, registration systems, mailing lists, survey data, and digital records.
  • Help coordinate internal communication and organizational/promotional.
