About The Position

The Department of History is seeking an undergraduate student assistant who is eligible to work immediately with the expectation to continue through Spring 2027, assisting department faculty and staff with office transitions and general clerical duties. Based on performance and continuance of funding, this employment opportunity can be extended into future semesters. Applicants must be able to commit to working 8 or more hours per week and must be dependable, detail oriented, and exhibit professionalism. This position will assist faculty and office staff and report directly to the Office Manager.

Requirements

  • Eligible for Federal Work Study
  • Available to commit 8 or more hours per week during normal business hours
  • Ability to manage time and commitments including scheduled work hours
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Processing records for disposal
  • Lifting and moving boxes of books and records
  • Assisting with office moves for faculty members
  • Answering and routing a multiline phone
  • Greeting and directing visitors
  • Data entry, filing and scanning
  • Handling and processing of mail/packages
  • Maintaining office supplies and equipment
  • Assisting with department events
