About The Position
This position will work under the supervision of a lab assistant to prepare and install lab equipment and supplies for student and faculty use. The assistant will help with daily lab operations, re-stocking equipment components, and performing basic maintenance on metal fabrication equipment. Responsibilities also include configuring lab facilities, installing new equipment and fixtures, and potentially general office work such as mail delivery and assisting instructors in the Metal Fabrication labs. The position offers up to 20 hours of work per week.
Requirements
- Must be a current MVCC student enrolled in 6+ credit hours in Welding Certificate, CNC Machinist Certificate, or Metal Fabrication AOS degree program
- Must be familiar with materials, methods, and equipment in the Metal Fabrication Labs
- Able to identify parts using specification sheets and/or catalogs
- Must be able to safely operate basic lab equipment
- Must be familiar with required safety procedures of the Metal Fabrication Labs, including proper use of personal protective equipment
- Must be familiar with basic computer use and related software
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
Responsibilities
- Prepare and install lab equipment/supplies for student/faculty use
