About The Position

This is a student position responsible for assisting in the custodial services delivered to housing operations. Performs a variety of routine manual and repetitive tasks involving care, cleaning, housekeeping, and general maintenance of buildings and equipment. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

• Must be a student in good academic standing (2.0 cumulative GPA or higher).
• Knowledge of general cleaning techniques and procedures.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
• Ability to work in a safe manner.
• Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties.
• Must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters.
• To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
• Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.

Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning windows, light fixtures, or carpets.
• Performs restroom maintenance, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate.
• Cleans, dusts, and disinfects areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities.
• Cleans office furniture, walls, windows, and floors.
• Empties trash cans and disposes of trash.
• Moves office furniture and other items as required.
• Operates floor maintenance equipment including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
