About The Position

This is a part-time student position at Texas Performing Arts (TPA), which is the professional arts presenting and producing program of The University of Texas at Austin. TPA is one of the largest and most active university-based performing arts centers in the U.S. and operates venues on the UT campus, including Bass Concert Hall. TPA's public programs include Broadway in Austin, an international season of dance, theater, music, and more, as well as the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. TPA is part of UT’s College of Fine Arts and engages students across the university in creative experiences. As a Student Arts Ambassador, you will help spread the word on campus about Texas Performing Arts and gain real-world experience working in a non-profit arts presenter.

Requirements

  • Availability to work scheduled shifts, both during normal hours and on nights and weekends
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong independent and collaborative work ethic
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual behaviors
  • Proven ability to think quickly on one’s feet to solve challenges as they arise

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to lift 25 pounds regularly
  • An interest in the performing arts
  • An interest in marketing, volunteer coordination, and/or customer service

Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly AmBASSador team meetings
  • Tabling on campus for TPA twice a month
  • Hanging posters and flyers for TPA events on campus
  • Working at the Hook ‘em Arts Student Lounge for a pre-performance reception at least twice a month
  • Helping with TPA Education and Engagement activities, such as school day performances and community workshops
  • Attending and coordinating monthly Hook ‘em Arts general meetings
  • Attending and coordinating UT student social events
  • Leading tours of Bass Concert Hall
  • Working a regular weekly desk shift at Bass Concert Hall
