About The Position

The Student Ambassador role in the Office of Admission involves introducing prospective students and their families to the North Central community through campus tours and virtual interactions. Ambassadors also provide support within the Admission Office by completing various tasks for professional staff. This role requires excellent communication skills, a personable nature, and a commitment to representing North Central College positively.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a student at North Central College
  • Completion of all application materials
  • Meet or exceed a cumulative grade point average of 2.75
  • Personable nature and ability to connect with individuals and groups
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, namely the ability to give an engaging large group tour (20 people) where all can hear you and ask questions along the way
  • Demonstrate knowledge of campus resources and willingness to learn about North Central continually
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with prospective students, families, faculty, and staff
  • Appreciation of diversity and respect for others and the College
  • Have and maintain an acceptable criminal and college disciplinary record

Nice To Haves

  • Student Ambassadors may also be Orientation Leaders (OL), Resident Assistants (RA), or work for another office; however, Admission requirements will take precedent over other commitments unless advance permission is granted.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce prospective students and their families to the North Central community in detail, and small and large group settings.
  • Learn the campus tour manual and stay up-to-date on all North Central College issues.
  • Fulfill task requests of any professional staff member in the Admission Office, including mailings, copying, filing, making folders, and restocking marketing materials.
  • Fulfill a minimum weekly schedule of at least two days per week and at least 2 hours per shift.
  • Work at least one office Saturday per semester from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
  • Meet virtually with students for a virtual tour, info session, student panel, etc. if needed.
  • Attend all required training sessions and Visit Programs.
  • Serve as a role model and representative of North Central College and set a positive example for new students.
  • Follow all college policies and Student Ambassador guidelines during employment period.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and respect for fellow students and professional staff.
