About The Position

This position serves as an essential role to the Business Office by advising and assisting students with tuition account inquiries and facilitating student account management with other Business Services staff; maintaining student account receivable tables; resolving student account discrepancies; researching and authorizing student refunds; and reconciling private scholarships and financial aid accounts. This position is integral to ensuring Central Lakes College’s compliance with MinnState and State of Minnesota financial reporting policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic business and governmental accounting sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
  • Knowledge of the MinnState Integrated Student Records System (ISRS), Workday, PowerBI, or other private or governmental accounting system, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports, and budget requests.
  • Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, database management, word processing software, computers, and other office equipment.
  • Skills in math sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data, and balance accounts.
  • Ability to design, interpret, and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures to both employees and students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers in both written and verbal formats.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous, and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person, and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year accounting degree or three years of equivalent experience.
  • Analytical thinking and high attention to detail with ability to understand and effectively carry out complex oral and written directions.
  • Time management and organizational skills sufficient to organize workload and meet deadlines while ensuring records are accurate and retrievable when necessary.
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly adapt to changes in policies, processes, procedures, and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, and Legislative Auditor, Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), and State Treasurer requirements for completing assigned job responsibilities.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and educate others during intense periods of change.
