About The Position

The Student Academic Success Services (SASS) Coordinator provides academic support to students, manages student issues as they arise, hires and supervises student employees, and interacts professionally with university personnel, including faculty, Chairs, and Deans. SASS’ academic support programs are an integral part of Academic Affairs and contribute directly to the University’s graduation and retention rates. The coordinator also contributes to the development, delivery, and assessment of student academic service retention efforts including Supplemental Instruction (SI), tutoring, and Peer-Assisted Student Success (PASS) programs. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains up to 120 student employees, which include SI leaders, tutors, and PASS leaders for assigned disciplines.

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, observes and meets regularly with SI leaders, tutors, and PASS leaders.
  • Makes decisions about appropriate assignment of student employees to specific support roles in Student Academic Success Service (SASS).
  • Conducts professional development sessions, workshops and training for student leaders based on CRLA accreditation.
  • Recommends improvements to university administration to enhance the effectiveness of academic support programs.
  • Ensures programs are aligned with certification standards set forth by the College Reading and Learning Association.
  • Collaborates with team to collect, analyze, and evaluate data for reporting outcomes of SASS on course grades, retention, and degree progression
  • Develops, updates, and maintains training materials, forms, policies and procedures for SASS.
  • Builds and maintains academic support schedules for SI, PASS leaders, and tutors.
  • Evaluates academic needs and updates course schedule to reflect academic support.
  • Manages attendance reporting database and generates regular reports.
  • Creates student surveys for scheduling purposes and program assessment.
  • Presents to faculty and university staff about the SI program and alternative academic support services offered by SASS.
  • Supports expansion and promotion efforts for SI, tutoring, and PASS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
