About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an Structures Repair and Modification Technician to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. This role involves assisting in the assembly of craft structures and related components, performing repairs, and documenting maintenance actions. The technician will work with various tools, precision measuring instruments, and blueprints to ensure structural integrity and proper repair procedures are followed. General duties include wearing safety equipment, communicating via computer systems, and performing other duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Experience in performing aircraft structural and mechanical work
  • Experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work 1st and/or 2nd shift
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assembling craft structures and related components using tools like jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter-sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening.
  • Set up and use a variety of precision measuring instruments (dial indicators, micrometers, gauges, protractors, calipers) and common hand tools (drills, reamers, deburrers, files, rivet guns, bucking bars).
  • Replace ribs, stiffeners, stringers in skinned assemblies based on blueprints.
  • Operate equipment such as brakes, grinders, band saws, and presses.
  • Pickup blind hole locations for blank parts from existing structure.
  • Correct cans, buckles, and wrinkles in outer skins.
  • Identify different types of corrosion, clean and treat corrosion, remove damaged areas, fabricate parts to repair damaged areas, and determine rivet patterns and layouts with minimal supervision.
  • Clearly document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests.
  • Assist with ordering parts, pan stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  • Wear required safety equipment while performing daily tasks.
  • Communicate via basic computer systems including Microsoft Office.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.
  • Perform close tolerance assembly operations such as shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning.
