About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for Associate Structures Repair and Modification Technicians to join our SAMC Back Shop team in San Antonio TX. This role involves performing close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas. Technicians will also locate blind holes for new structural items, perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure, and interpret engineering drawings and technical orders for structural modifications and repairs. The position requires the use of tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair, knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting and repair, and experience with aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair. Additionally, understanding basic electrical systems functionality and various aircraft tools is necessary. Accessing aircraft data via computer systems, initiating parts and discrepancy requests, and maintaining necessary certifications are also key responsibilities. The role involves working in confined spaces, ascending/descending ladders, and lifting loads up to 35 pounds. Ensuring a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems is required. This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
  • 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
  • 4+ years of experience using various structures hand tools;: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
  • 4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
  • Must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas
  • Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure
  • Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modifications and repairs
  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts
  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components
  • Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair
  • Determine functionality of basic electrical systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
  • Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems application
  • Pass an assessment during the training cycle
