About The Position

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for Associate Structures Repair and Modification Technicians to join our SAMC Back Shop team in San Antonio TX. This position involves performing close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas. It also includes locating blind holes for new structural items, sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure. Technicians will read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications and repairs. They will use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts. The role requires knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair, replacement of components, aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, and basic electrical systems functionality. Familiarity with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers is necessary. Accessing aircraft data via computer systems and initiating on-line parts and discrepancy requests is also part of the job. Maintaining necessary certifications, licenses, and permits is required. The role involves ascending and descending vertical work ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting loads of approximately 35 pounds. Ensuring a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems application is crucial. This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
  • 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
  • 4+ years of experience using various structures hand tools;: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns
  • 4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
  • Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
  • Must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
  • Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems application
