About The Position

For one of our clients, a world-renowned aerospace manufacturer, we are recruiting an aerospace designer with experience in structure and systems installation. This role involves performing mechanical design using CATIA V5, overseeing the production of detail and installation drawings, and interpreting technical specifications to develop solutions that meet design requirements. The designer will support production operations across various aircraft programs, understanding and resolving airframe and systems issues by providing technical support to multi-site assembly lines (Querétaro, Dorval, Toronto). Collaboration with other disciplines such as Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Sciences, Design, Methods, Quality, and Operations is essential to achieve company objectives. The position also includes participating in projects aimed at increasing productivity, reducing waste, and improving financial performance, as well as planning and adhering to project schedules while respecting allocated budgets. The designer will work closely with experienced, dynamic, and efficient multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with internal and external suppliers to support the manufacturing team as needed. A key aspect of the role is active involvement in bringing designs to life by supporting the manufacturing, assembly, and installation phases.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with eight (8) or more years of experience, or a technical equivalent with twelve (12) or more years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 design and modeling software.
  • Possess strong expertise in aircraft structure and systems installation design.
  • Solid experience in the design and manufacturing of machined parts and sheet metal components.
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility, sound practical and technical judgment, and be adaptable.
  • Demonstrate initiative, strong listening skills, and a keen interest in teamwork.
  • Able to manage priorities effectively.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet design deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills in both English and French.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of composite design and Fibersim software.
