About The Position

Carlton Staffing is seeking experienced, dependable, and safety-focused Structural Welders for a temp-to-hire position in East Houston. The role involves performing 3G structural welding on steel components using MIG and Flux Core processes. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints and fabrication drawings, operating welding equipment, preparing materials, and utilizing overhead and jib cranes. Additional shop duties may be assigned. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

• Minimum 2-4 years of structural steel welding and fabrication experience.
• Must successfully pass a 3G weld test using MIG and FCAW processes.
• Working knowledge of AWS welding codes, standards, and welding procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with grinders, cutting torches, and fabrication hand tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a standing position for extended periods.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and productivity.
• Must possess effective verbal communication skills and work well in a team environment.
• Ability to meet company certification and performance testing requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with overhead cranes, jib cranes, and safe rigging practices is preferred.
• High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform 3G structural welding on steel components using MIG and Flux Core (FCAW-G, 1/16" wire).
• Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings to complete projects accurately.
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment and wire feeders.
• Grind, bevel, cut, and prepare materials for fabrication and assembly.
• Utilize overhead cranes, jib cranes, and rigging equipment to safely move materials and assemblies.
• Perform additional shop duties as assigned by management.
