About The Position

This role involves welding and fitting structural steel components. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, understand weld symbols, and have experience with FCAW welding. Responsibilities include welding components, laying out and positioning parts, examining work pieces for defects, and operating welding equipment. Safety is paramount, requiring knowledge of safety standards, willingness to use protective gear, and adherence to company and OSHA safety rules. The physical requirements include working in various indoor conditions, lifting and carrying weights up to 50 lbs, and performing frequent physical activities like standing, walking, reaching, balancing, and grasping, as well as regular climbing, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory.

Requirements

Read and interpret blueprints.
Experience in FCAW welding/fitting.
Recognize and understand weld symbols.
Accurately read a tape line.

Structural steel background preferred.

Responsibilities

Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules.
