The Shaw Group•Beaumont, TX

About The Position

The Structural Welder performs multi-process structural steel welding and general welding procedures. The role involves guiding an electrode or welding gun along a weld line while controlling arc length and travel speed to achieve the specified fusion depth and bead. The welder selects and loads electrodes or consumable wire, connects welding equipment to settings specified by a Welding Engineer or Supervisor, and operates the power supply to create welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. The position may also involve preparing, cleaning, repairing, preheating, positioning, clamping, assembling, and cutting work pieces. The welder may need to weld 1/4-inch stainless plate and pass employer or standard certification tests. Work is limited to tasks for which the employee has been trained and/or authorized.
