About The Position

Whirlwind Steel is seeking an experienced Structural Welder to join its night shift team. The role involves welding structural steel components using Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), following welding specifications, and meeting AWS D1.1 quality standards. Whirlwind Steel manufactures and distributes metal buildings and products used in a range of settings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current welding certification.
• At least 2 years of structural welding experience.
• Experience with FCAW welding.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop details to determine specific welding requirements.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment according to specifications.
• Perform FCAW welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy.
• Operate overhead cranes and welding equipment safely.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Meet daily production and quality goals.
