Structural Welder Fitter - Oxford, AL
About The Position
Epsilon is a leader in the Off-Site Construction (OSC) industry, delivering mechanical/electrical-centric systems in a modular, prefabricated form, optimized for a streamlined on-site completion by us or others. The Structural Fitter / Welder is responsible for the layout, fit-up, fabrication, and welding of structural steel components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role plays a key part in assembling frames, modules, and support structures that meet production schedules and customer requirements. This is a fully on-site position. The employee will complete a minimum 90-day on-site training period at Epsilon Industries’ Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility and will receive a per diem of $500 per week during the training period. Upon completion of training, the position will transfer to and remain fully on-site at Epsilon Industries’ Oxford, Alabama facility.
Requirements
- 3–7+ years of experience in structural fitting and/or welding
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings
- Proficiency in welding processes (MIG, FCAW, or Stick)
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic layout work
- Experience in fabrication or industrial environments
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves
- Welding certifications (AWS D1.1 or equivalent)
- Experience with modular construction or skid fabrication
- Familiarity with rigging and material handling
- Experience using layout tools (squares, levels, measuring devices)
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Lay out structural components including beams, columns, baseplates, and supports
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required dimensions
- Perform fit-up of structural assemblies ensuring proper alignment and tolerances
- Perform welding using processes such as MIG, Flux-Cored (FCAW), or Stick
- Produce welds that meet company quality standards and applicable codes
- Visually inspect welds and correct deficiencies as needed
- Maintain consistency and accuracy in all welds
- Assemble structural frames, skids, and modular components
- Work with jigs, fixtures, and layout tools to ensure repeatability and accuracy
- Ensure proper placement and fit of structural members prior to final welding
- Assist in module assembly and integration with other trades
- Verify dimensions, squareness, and alignment before and after welding
- Follow all fabrication drawings and specifications closely
- Minimize rework through attention to detail and proper execution
- Work with QA/QC to resolve any quality issues
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Properly use PPE and maintain safe work practices
- Safely operate tools and equipment including grinders, torches, and welding machines
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work closely with supervisors, leads, and other departments (piping, assembly, etc.)
- Communicate material needs, drawing discrepancies, or production issues
- Support team productivity and help meet production goals
