About The Position

This full-time position is located in the Facilities Department at Community College of Aurora and provides ongoing and preventative maintenance for buildings and grounds, ensuring efficient, quality service for the staff, faculty and student body.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire.
  • Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position.
  • Position is required to be on-call to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the structural trades to include carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions.
  • Must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program or higher level coursework from an accredited, non-correspondence, vocational or trades school appropriate to the work assignment may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Complete light carpentry tasks, painting, and drywall repairs.
  • Install and hang fixtures, including bulletin boards, whiteboards, and pictures.
  • Assist maintenance staff with HVAC tasks, including changing filters and belts, cleaning coils, and greasing motors.
  • Make minor adjustments to the building automation system (BAS) as directed.
  • Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical lighting and power systems.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Assemble new office furniture and move existing furniture throughout the college as requested.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of large-scale campus events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including seasonal tasks such as snow and ice removal.
