About The Position

This full-time position is located in the Facilities Department at Community College of Aurora, CentreTech Campus. Primary duties and responsibilities include: expedite and ensure quality standards for cleaning, maintenance and beautification of campus facilities and grounds. Inspect and maintain facility equipment. Mow, rake, aerate and irrigate lawns; plant, transplant, spray and trim flowers, shrubs and small trees, apply pesticides and fertilizers for pest, weed and disease control. Ensure proper drainage from parking lots, sidewalks and turf. Determine appropriate time to cut and edge grass, trim bushes and trees, fertilize grass, trees and shrubs. Assist in the repair and maintenance of the sprinkler system which includes digging ditches and trenches. Perform minor fence repair and street and parking lot patching. Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, parking lot and grounds using small hand tools, shovels and small bladed vehicles. Operate a variety of manual tools and equipment to include tractors, plows, lifts, mowers, trimmers, edgers and other grounds care equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Work with co-workers, employees and the general public to accomplish daily tasks. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of grounds care/landscaping experience as the primary function of the job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire.
  • Must be able to follow verbal communications.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend written directions.
  • Must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos.
  • Must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to perform constant or frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and depth perception.
