About The Position

Seeking an experienced skilled Tradesperson to join the Facilities and Services team. This role performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including non-technical maintenance of facilities and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. The position may involve tasks of other unlicensed trades such as light equipment operator, carpenter, mason, and/or roofer. Responsibilities include monitoring, maintaining, and performing standard repairs to building facilities, including carpentry, masonry, and welding maintenance tasks. This includes routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window, roof, cabinet and countertop replacement, door and hardware installation, masonry repairs, and new installation of ceramic tile, cinder block, plaster, and concrete. The role also involves heavy equipment work as appropriate, inspecting buildings, grounds, and equipment to determine maintenance and repair needs, recommending economical improvements, and issuing work requests. Additionally, the position involves maintaining inventory, requisitioning materials, supplies, and equipment, controlling storage and use, maintaining and repairing equipment, conferring with supervisors on budgeting and long-range planning, and preparing preliminary budget reports.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or higher degree.
  • Considerable physical activity. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including non-technical maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter, mason, and/or roofer.
  • Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building facilities.
  • Performs carpentry, masonry, welding maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window, roof, cabinet and countertop replacement, door, hardware installation, masonry repairs and new installation of ceramic tile, cinder block, plaster, concrete, heavy equipment work as appropriate.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment to determine need for maintenance and repair and recommends most economical way to make changes and improvements to superior.
  • Issues work requests to appropriate authority.
  • Maintains inventory; requisitions materials, supplies and equipment, and maintains control over storage and use.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment.
  • Confers with supervisor regarding budgeting and long-range planning.
  • Prepares all or part of preliminary budget reports.
