The company is investing more than $1 billion through 2028 in infrastructure, including a 600,000 sq ft Center for Excellence in Manufacturing in Sedalia, Missouri. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and/or 2 years of experience with the basic GMAW (gas metal arc welding), FCAW (flux cored arc welding)
  • Must pass a weld test for FCAW in the 2G and 3G configurations (horizontal and vertical up).
  • All level 2 coupons are standard carbon A-36 plate ½ inch in thickness in all positions.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Candidate must also pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) knowledge.
  • Knowledge of how to effectively use the following measuring devices and basic tools: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, angle finder, and weld gauges.
  • Ability to operate forklift safely.
  • Ability and knowledge to rig properly and safely run an overhead style crane.
  • Knowledge of amperage, wire speed, and consumable replacement from liners, gas tips, and wire spool replacement on all the specified types of welding, while still maintaining cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Use of MIG welders and flame-cutting equipment to build power plant components as specified by layouts, work orders, or blueprints.
  • Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
  • Position work pieces and clamps together or assembles in jigs or fixtures.
  • Ignite torch or start power supply and strike arc.
  • Select and insert electrode or gas nozzle into holder and connect hoses and cables to obtain gas or specified amperage, voltage, or polarity.
  • Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flame on torch equipment.
  • Select and install proper consumables according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
  • Guide electrodes or torch along weld line at specified speed and angle to weld, melt, cut, or trim metal.
  • Weld metal parts or components together, using MIG welding equipment.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes and increase size of metal parts, using welding equipment.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position.
  • Inspect finished work piece for conformance to specifications.
