About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Atlanta, GA November 5th and 6th. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027. The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Friday, interviews will take place at our Atlanta office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern to be based in Atlanta, GA. This position is expected to begin Spring/Summer 2027. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or another related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study.
  • Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience including but not limited to: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu.
  • Previous relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural design documentation (3D models, plans, sketches, and details) using Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Review construction submittals and RFI’s towards the development of detailed, timely responses.
  • Collaborate with other in-house engineering disciplines for coordinated technical solutions.
  • Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed and prepare written reports.
