About The Position

AECOM Water is seeking an entry level Structural Engineer to join our busy Albuquerque, New Mexico office. This position is expected to begin as soon as possible. The role involves supporting structural engineering projects from conception to completion under the supervision of a licensed engineer, performing advanced structural analysis and design calculations for complex structures, and developing structural drawings, specifications, and reports. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders, ensure code compliance, participate in site visits, and utilize advanced software and BIM tools. Client interaction, staying updated on industry trends, and data analysis are also key aspects of the role. The position requires performing work within budget and schedule under supervision, with travel to other states for fieldwork on 1 to 3-day trips, accounting for up to 20% of the overall time.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Work as part of a project team under the direction of a licensed engineer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects efficiently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in water industry structural design is highly advantageous.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain certification within the first six months.
  • Experience in advanced structural analysis software such as STAAD and RAM Elements.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience in finite element analysis and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with various building materials including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
  • Basic understanding of building codes, standards, and seismic design principles.

Responsibilities

  • Support structural engineering projects from conception to completion under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
  • Perform advanced structural analysis and design calculations for complex structures.
  • Develop structural drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national building codes and standards.
  • Participate in site visits to assess existing structures and monitor construction progress.
  • Utilize advanced structural analysis software and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations to communicate design concepts and solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and innovative structural engineering practices.
  • Participate in collecting and analyzing field data.
  • Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performing work by agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  • Travel to other states for fieldwork on 1 to 3-day trips, accounting for up to 20% of the overall time.
