About The Position

Velos is seeking a Structural Dynamics Engineer to support an engineering and technical services contract at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) facility in Washington, DC. This full-time role provides engineering support in structural dynamics caused by vehicle loads and involves the design and analysis of aerospace and space hardware. The position requires a Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship. The engineer will analyze mechanical structures under vibration, shock, and thermal loads; prepare models for launch-vehicle contractor coupled-loads analysis; review vibration and shock test data; and resolve technical issues using calculations and testing. The role also involves coordinating with thermal, electrical, and structural disciplines to meet spacecraft-level objectives; analyzing and designing assemblies across a wide temperature range; planning and conducting modal analyses with advanced digital signal processing equipment; and performing materials mechanics, fatigue, and structural design analyses as assigned. The engineer will use relevant computer programs and communicate findings through oral presentations and clear, thorough documentation. The minimum education and experience requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physical Science plus 15 years of experience developing and qualifying aerospace hardware using current analytical techniques. The stated salary range is $120,000–$160,000. Velos offers PTO, a 401(k), and health benefits.
