About The Position

Velos is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer Level IV to support an engineering and technical services contract at the Naval Research Laboratory facility in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position requiring an active Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship. The role involves detailed stress and structural analyses of aerospace and space hardware, development and qualification of aerospace hardware, and collaboration across technical disciplines to meet spacecraft-level objectives. The position requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physical Science and an additional 15 years of relevant experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physical Science.
An additional 15 years of experience developing and qualifying aerospace hardware using the latest analytical techniques.
Top Secret clearance.
U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed stress analyses on vehicle systems and related structures.
Design and analyze mechanical structures for stresses associated with integration, launch, operations, handling, and support structures.
Ensure appropriate load paths are developed to support assemblies.
Resolve technical problems and provide engineering solutions based on calculations and testing.
Interface with technical disciplines, including thermal, electrical, and structural engineering, to satisfy spacecraft-level objectives.
Analyze and design assemblies exposed to temperatures ranging from liquid helium temperatures to substantially above ambient temperature.
Plan and conduct modal analyses of structural components and systems using advanced digital signal processing equipment.
Perform analyses related to mechanics of materials, metal fatigue, and structural design of aerospace and space hardware as assigned.
Use computer programs appropriate to the area of expertise.
Deliver oral presentations to managers and sponsors and prepare clear, thorough documentation of work performed.
