Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship? Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Structural Designer/Drafter Student to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG). Reporting to the Structural discipline lead Engineer, you will support projects globally working from our Mississauga, ON office with opportunities in other Hatch offices and at project job sites.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited technical College program specializing in Civil / Structural design
  • Awareness and some experience of 2D and 3D structural design/drawing software packages
  • Some background understanding of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to structural design
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Motivated individual with an interest in developing and growing their technical skills
  • Interest in applying the skills developed during their technical education
  • Good safety awareness

Responsibilities

  • Assist in producing and maintaining technical drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Support conceptual layout work and development of design details
  • Perform clash detection and ensure coordination with other disciplines
  • Participate in formal design review processes
  • Verify site conditions and dimensions as required
  • Incorporate safety considerations into design work
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project scope, schedule, and quality requirements
