About The Position

BME Fire Trucks is seeking an experienced Drafter/Designer to join our Engineering Team. We are a locally owned Fire Truck manufacturer in Boise, Idaho, specializing in wildland fire apparatus used across the US and Canada. This role is crucial in supporting our sales team by providing accurate and timely drawings, and managing Bills of Material for the purchasing team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who values attention to detail and productivity within a close-knit team environment.

Requirements

Associates degree (A.S) in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Working knowledge of drafting standards and best practices.
Proficiency in and recent experience with Solidworks, PDM Enterprise, Draftsight.
Significant experience with Solidworks sheetmetal and weldment design tools.
Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
Proven organizational and time management skills, capable of collaborating as well as working independently to keep the ball moving forward with concurrent priorities.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of electrical principles and electrical circuits
Understanding of relays, diodes, and switches
Ability to diagnose and test circuits after installation
Automotive customization, audio and component installation, other layout experience
Ability to pick up job specific knowledge and desire to learn
Can-do attitude and ability to adapt to changing demands.
Ability to follow through on tasks and projects ATC (accurately, timely and completely).

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in documentation control a plus.
Experience in vehicle design, custom fabrication, and in-house manufacturing a plus.
CSWA, CSWP, or related professional certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

Sales Drawing creation for engineering team in support of sales goals
Database management of bills of material, for assemblies and individual parts in quoting system
Documentation control through established release and revision process
Service and manufacturing drafting or design support as required
