Scott Equipment Company is looking to add a Designer/Drafter to join our team in New Prague, MN! The Primary Objective of the Position is to develop mechanical drawings for sales, project manager, customer approval, outside vendor and internal shop fabrication on assigned projects and ensures that accurate drawings are completed according to the customer’s specifications and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares preliminary sales drawings by receiving quotation and submitting drawings with quotation to customer to assist in closing the sale.
  • Consults with Project Manager and salesperson to verify specifications for the order.
  • Creates preliminary drawings based on quoted design and specifications, verifying price quotation against drawings.
  • Drawings are shared with Project Manager to be submitted for approval by the customer or updated with modifications requested by the customer. Upon approval, bill of material is prepared and submitted to the Purchasing Agent.
  • Requests drawings and models from vendors for specific components /devices included in the order/bill of material.
  • Prepares documentation for equipment including parts list, drawings, detailed maintenance instructions for each component to ensure that the customer has complete and accurate maintenance documents and manuals for equipment.
  • Research and develop new products and creatively think of new equipment designs that can be made to existing products as directed, to expand and improve the product line.
  • Conducts weekly audit of orders in process, by communicating with fabricators to discuss design success or challenges.
  • Enter all information into PDM in accordance with Scott Equipment guidelines.
  • Conducts final inspections on finished products prior to shipment to ensure that quality and customer specifications are met.
  • Documents and records all information about the design and design changes in the project folder.
