Structural Design Engineer Intern
About The Position
Sunflower is hiring a Structural Design Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in Great Bend, KS. This role involves designing, engineering, installing, and commissioning critical electrical transmission and distribution facilities. Interns will address challenges such as line routing, structural design, conductor evaluation, field surveying, and developing construction drawings, engineering calculations, and innovative solutions. The position offers opportunities to work closely with a knowledgeable team, gain hands-on experience in an electric utility, and contribute to providing reliable energy to central and western Kansas. The role includes both field and office work.
Requirements
- Two years of engineering education at an ABET accredited institution.
Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, install, and commission critical electrical transmission and distribution facilities.
- Tackle challenges including line routing, structural design, conductor evaluation, and field surveying.
- Develop construction drawings and engineering calculations.
- Develop innovative solutions.
