About The Position

This entry-level/early-career applied science position conducts numerical computations using third-party and in-house tools to assess structural performance of components and systems. Computer-model results are used to evaluate whether designs meet customer requirements and to provide design recommendations. The role focuses on executing and improving established processes documented in local and global work instructions, Engineering Standard Work (ESW), and Design Validation Plans (DVP&R), while also developing specialized computational tools and methods to support design and validation decisions. The engineer works with Design, Thermal Sciences, Materials, and Product Validation stakeholders to deliver models and results for structural performance parameters such as motion, load, natural frequencies, stress, design margin, life, and sound power. The position applies engineering fundamentals and tool-specific knowledge to make design decisions based on numerical predictions. It owns resolution of moderately complex component, product, system, subsystem, or service problems, with technical scope and ambiguity increasing with experience. The role independently executes established processes while developing product and technology knowledge and contributing to process improvement. It may coordinate technicians or temporary student employees, and includes technical mentoring of local engineers in simulation. Located in Seymour, Indiana, this position is part of the ALDV (Analysis Led Design and Validation) team and reports to the US ALDV Team Manager. The team provides design recommendations to internal stakeholders through simulation, analysis, analytical hand calculations, and benchmarking. Work includes simulation-based evaluations, correlation of system-level models to test data, definition of analysis tasks and modeling techniques with stakeholders, assessment of appropriate model fidelity, and coordination of cross-functional simulation plans to meet program schedules. The engineer presents findings and recommendations in analysis reviews for global internal customers, develops and evaluates design iterations with stakeholders, uses CAD environments such as Creo to review and extract geometry and product information, and contributes to functional excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. The position is designed for external early-career candidates within two years of completing their highest degree at an accredited U.S. college or university who currently reside in the continental United States. For U.S.-based roles, international students on F-1 visas must have approved CPT or OPT related to their degree before the assignment begins.
