About The Position

The City of Highland Village is currently recruiting an experienced and driven individual for the position of Streets Superintendent. This leadership role is a key part of the Public Works Department and offers the opportunity to oversee critical infrastructure maintenance operations that directly impact the safety and functionality of the community. Under general direction, the Streets Superintendent is responsible for managing and coordinating citywide streets maintenance activities, including streets, sidewalks, curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, and related repair projects. As the Streets Superintendent, you will lead and support the Streets Division team while coordinating daily operations, long-range planning efforts, and Capital Improvement Projects. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance schedules, managing departmental personnel functions, coordinating vendor contracts and materials procurement, reviewing project documentation and work orders, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with City standards and specifications. This role also serves as part of the City’s emergency response team during severe weather events and declared disasters. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with extensive experience in streets and drainage construction, project coordination, and personnel management. This position regularly collaborates with other departments, regulatory agencies, contractors, and members of the public to maintain and improve the City’s infrastructure systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six (6) to nine (9) years of previous experience in the field
  • Three (3) years of which shall include supervision of road and drainage construction
  • Extensive experience in streets and drainage construction, project coordination, and personnel management.

Responsibilities
