About The Position

This role involves the maintenance and repair of city streets, parking lots, drainage facilities, and rights-of-way. Responsibilities vary based on the level (I, II, or III), with higher levels involving proficient operation of heavy equipment and training of personnel. All levels require adherence to established quality standards and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of basic math skills.
• Knowledge of hand tools and equipment used in street maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of materials used in street maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of safe traffic handling in construction/maintenance areas.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of equipment.
• Ability to work safely and take initiative.
• Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to maintain positive, effective working relationships with employees and the public.
• Must have a Class "C" Texas driver's license with a good driving record (Worker I).
• Texas Class "A" Driver's License (Worker II and III).
• One or more years of experience in maintenance and repair of city streets and drainage facilities or related field (Worker II).
• Three (3) years' experience in street/drainage maintenance (Worker III).
• Two (2) years' experience operating heavy equipment (Worker III).

Nice To Haves

• Ability to obtain a Class "A" Texas driver's license within 6 months from hire date (Worker I).
• General knowledge of principles of supervision, training and evaluating employee performance (Worker III).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of city streets, parking lots, drainage facilities, and rights-of-way.
• Operate heavy equipment used in street maintenance and repair (primarily for Worker III).
• Train personnel in repair and safe use of heavy equipment (primarily for Worker III).
• Handle traffic safely in construction and maintenance areas.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment.
