About The Position

The City of Inver Grove Heights is looking to hire for the position of Street Maintenance Helper to perform street/storm water maintenance activities throughout the City of Inver Grove Heights. Work will be performed under the general direction of the Street Lead Worker and other full-time Maintenance Staff. The Street Maintenance Helper position will receive on-the-job training to learn street and stormwater maintenance skills and put those skills into practice completing a wide variety of projects throughout the City of Inver Grove Heights.

Requirements

• Ability to work well with others in a team setting.

• Ability to work long days shoveling, digging and swinging heavy tools repetitively.
• Ability to work long days of chipping & brush work.
• Ability to continuously use hand/foot controls, lift, bend, and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sustain walking and working across uneven terrain.
• Ability to work in extremes of heat or cold.
• Physical Ability to perform general maintenance outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday with the possibility of working some weekends.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Valid Drivers license and ability to drive.
• Must pass background check including driving history and pre-employment physical.
• Must be a US Citizen, US National, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the US.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to drive trucks and tow trailers.
• Knowledge of basic equipment use, maintenance, and safe operations of such.
• Previous experience in maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance & inspection of City streets, signs, sidewalks, trails, ponds, and stormwater systems.
• Maintenance of turf, vehicles, equipment, tools, and buildings.
