About The Position

The Pueblo School District 60 is seeking a STREAM Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a grant-funded position within the Innovation Zone, which comprises seven unique schools offering challenging and rewarding teaching opportunities. The district's mission is to provide a high-quality education that assures each student the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to lead a life of purpose and impact. The STREAM Teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that guides students to develop their academic potential. This role involves developing and delivering engaging interdisciplinary instruction that integrates Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through project-based and inquiry-driven approaches. The teacher will be part of an elective wheel providing students with STREAM-related Project Based experiences. The position requires a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.

Requirements

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire
  • Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics Endorsement or Elementary Education Endorsement or Teacher must be highly qualified in applicable content area through the following options: Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license, 36 semester credit hours applicable to content area - STREAM, or Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series)
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Deep understanding of interdisciplinary teaching that connects science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging hands-on learning experiences and STREAM units that support student creativity and innovation.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and differentiation strategies for K-5 learners.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills to support collaboration, inquiry, and safe exploration.
  • Technological proficiency, including familiarity with coding, robotics, digital design, and virtual learning tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Establish clear classroom routines and procedures that create a positive student-centered learning environment.
  • Utilize data from a variety of sources to collaboratively plan and adapt instruction.
  • Submit lesson plans for feedback and support.
  • Implement evidenced-based instructional practices that build student knowledge and skills across a variety of content areas.
  • Actively engage in the professional development activities to continuously improve practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in integrated STREAM instruction, project-based learning, or makerspace facilitation.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards in core subjects and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
  • Familiarity with design thinking, engineering practices, or creative arts integration.
  • 3-5 years successful teaching as demonstrated by references, evaluations and student growth data
  • Experience implementing effective literacy instruction including foundational skills and comprehension strategies
  • Experience using Common Core State standards to plan instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Develop and deliver engaging interdisciplinary instruction that integrates STREAM content through innovative, project-based, and inquiry-driven approaches.
  • Be a part of the elective wheel providing students with STREAM related Project Based experiences.
  • Teach STREAM-focused lessons and units to students in grades 6-8, fostering inquiry, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Partner with classroom teachers and specialists to integrate STREAM into grade-level units and school-wide projects.
  • Facilitate PBL opportunities that align with district and grant priorities, including interdisciplinary challenges and real-world problem solving.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and guide instruction.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development aligned with STREAM education, PBL, and magnet school implementation.
  • Involve families and community partners in STREAM-related events, exhibitions, and learning opportunities.
  • Provide a variety of classroom techniques and methods.
  • Promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities.
  • Use techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities.
  • Utilize current and relevant subject matter.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction.
  • Organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes.
