About The Position

Our client, a fast-growing AI B2B enterprise startup, is hiring a Strategy & Operations Lead, New Verticals to own expansion across the long tail of home services — from roofing and garage to pool care, pest control, and beyond. The ideal candidate combines a strategy consulting foundation with hands-on experience at a PE-backed home services company, and is energized by talking directly to business owners to understand how their trades actually work.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience across strategy consulting, PE-backed home services, and/or high-growth startups
  • Strategy consulting background (MBB or similar tier) — must have the core analytical and strategic toolkit
  • Operational experience at a PE-backed home services company (e.g., roofing, HVAC, plumbing) or deep familiarity with the home services industry
  • Strong customer discovery skills — you love spending time with business owners and earn their trust quickly
  • Highly competitive undergraduate or MBA program (e.g., Berkeley, Stanford, Ivy)
  • High agency — runs independently with minimal direction in fast-paced environments
  • Interest in product — you'll have significant influence on the product roadmap based on your vertical research

Nice To Haves

  • IB or PE background before transitioning to operating roles
  • Product internship or product-adjacent role experience
  • Track record of building GTM playbooks for new market segments

Responsibilities

  • Go deep into new home services verticals (roofing, pest control, lawn care, etc.) by talking directly to business owners to understand their workflows, economics, and pain points
  • Determine which verticals represent the biggest opportunities and build the prioritization framework for the company
  • Translate customer insights into product requirements — partnering with engineering and product to adapt the company's AI agents for each new segment
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, partnership plays, and onboarding playbooks tailored to each vertical
  • Build the repeatable playbook the company uses to enter, validate, and scale every future vertical
