About The Position

DTID is seeking analytical, commercially aware and solutions-focused volunteers for its Strategy function within the Director-General’s Office. Appointments may be made at Principal, Senior or Officer level based on qualifications, experience, assessment performance and demonstrated strategic capability. The team supports institutional growth by analysing strategic opportunities, developing organisational and business-development proposals, supporting partnerships, and helping senior leadership translate priorities into practical initiatives. Volunteers will work across DTID to assess challenges and opportunities, conduct research and analysis, develop recommendations, and support implementation of strategic initiatives. The role has a strong business-development and partnership-development component, including identifying opportunities for institutional collaboration, sponsorship, programme development, government engagement and other strategic support. Volunteers are expected to approach complex problems as internal strategists and management consultants: analysing evidence, challenging assumptions and presenting practical recommendations to senior decision-makers. Responsibilities vary by appointment level. Principal Strategy Officers may lead complex strategy and business-development assignments, advise senior leaders, lead analysis of major opportunities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, review other officers’ work and mentor colleagues. Senior Strategy Officers may independently manage workstreams, coordinate cross-functional projects, lead selected initiatives and guide Strategy Officers. Strategy Officers may support research, analysis and implementation, prepare draft materials, maintain trackers and assist senior colleagues. The role is home-based and remote, within an internationally distributed organisation. These are unpaid volunteer positions. The selection process normally includes application screening, a written or technical assessment, an interview and/or technical discussion, and final selection and onboarding.
