About The Position

Ogilvy Canada, part of WPP, is seeking a planner with smarts, passion, and curiosity to help clients understand and navigate our ever-changing world. With over 3 years of experience at a creative agency, you will apply various tools and techniques to contribute to strategies and briefs. You will work as a core team member with creatives and accounts, providing business-relevant perspectives on communication challenges. This involves understanding market and competitive factors, cultural trends, and deep consumer insights to ensure the team delivers solutions and insights that aid client decision-making. Experience in social strategy is considered an asset.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ strategy experience in a creative advertising agency preferred
  • Ability to manage scenarios where on the spot, critical thinking is necessary
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive mindset; cares about the details and follows through
  • Well informed on cultural and social trends relevant to clients
  • Is current on industry, customer and competitor information and integrates those insights into strategic recommendations

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling consumer profiles that provide insight into consumer behaviours, attitudes, lifestyle and usage to uncover meaningful insights
  • Conduct in-depth scouting into cultural trends, channel opportunities, competitive activity and distill into actionable implications and recommendations.
  • Contribute to and sometimes lead the strategic thinking on campaigns
  • Contribute to writing Creative Briefs (and depending on the nature of the project lead the writing)
  • Provide inspiration and ideas to creative teams as they begin the creative development process; act as a partner and sounding board during the creative process
  • Partner with Creatives to concept, explore and push the work
  • Develop a proficiency for research including becoming comfortable and well versed on all the data on a client’s business.
  • Build excellent relationships with creatives, accounts and agency partners
  • Be familiar with widely used and emerging insight tools and technology, channels and terminology.
